We continue the webinar series of the “Youth for the Future of Ukraine” project. This time, we will discuss one of the most painful issues of this war.

Every day, we see news about destroyed cities, shelling, and loss. But behind every statistic are human lives. And perhaps the heaviest burden of this war is borne by those who never chose it at all — Ukrainian children.

Russia is abducting, deporting, and forcibly re-educating Ukrainian children, depriving them not only of their homes, but also of their right to their own identity, memory, and future.

Yet once the war is over, Ukraine will face an equally difficult challenge: how can these children be helped to return to a normal life? How can collective trauma be addressed? And what responsibility does society as a whole bear in this process?

These are the questions we will explore in our next webinar.

🎙 Our guest is Vladyslav Havrylov.

A Ukrainian researcher, scholar of religion, and specialist in documenting Russian war crimes. He is a Research Consultant at the Leverhulme Centre for Research on Slavery in War at King’s College London and a Global Fellow of the Collaborative on Global Children’s Issues at Georgetown University (USA). His research focuses on the forced deportation, illegal adoption, and forced re-education of Ukrainian children by Russia, as well as on identifying international mechanisms for protecting their rights.

What do we know today about Russia’s crimes against Ukrainian children? Why is the deportation of children not only a war crime but also an attempt to destroy Ukraine’s future? How can society support children who have experienced occupation, loss, deportation, or violence? And why does Ukraine’s recovery begin not only with rebuilding cities, but also with restoring childhood?

This will be a conversation about responsibility, memory, justice, and human dignity.

It is not only for those interested in international law or the history of the war.

It is for everyone who wants to understand how we can protect Ukraine’s future today.
